Students complete 3 month Self-Defence course
Eight students namely Chantal Marie Cassar, Lucia Cortis, Patrick Pace, Paul Azzopardi, Roberto Formosa, Veronica Ellul, Mark Grech and Jesmond Grech have successfully completed a ‘Basic Self-Defence course’ organized by the Malta Self-Defence Academy. The course which consisted of twelve sessions introduced the students to a variety of Self-Defence techniques together with a number of blocks, strikes, grabs and locks. Throughout the course, the students were also introduced to other techniques and skills such as; awareness and avoidance; body language; conflict management; voice control; fear control; effective and tactical intervention.
Enrolling oneself in a self-defence class is highly beneficial to the student. Although one’s primary goal is to learn how to defend one’s self, the class helps one to achieve a healthier psychological and
physical state. Other factors such as; self-discipline; self-confidence; socializing; and dexterity/flexibility among others are all benefits of such a class.
Learning to defend oneself is learning a skill and an art at the same time which need continuous development based on a combination of theory and practice. As in any other form of arts, to master such a skill, a student needs patience, practice, motivation and personal attention.
Malta Self-Defence Academy is now opening applications for students who wish to enroll in a Self-Defence
class based on a mixture of classic and modern Chinese martial arts. More information can be found by sending an email to info@maltaselfdefenceacademy.com
